SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO MAKE A STAND.

They’ve been relentlessly hounded ever since The Purge decimated the world, and every day since has been a struggle to stay one step ahead of the enemy.

Keo has returned, claiming to have information that can turn the tide of war against the ghouls. Lara wants nothing more than to strike back, but she has other problems Will has yet to make contact, and a team she’s sent on an important mission has gone off the radar.

Meanwhile, Texas becomes a battlefield as a new force rises to challenge the rule of the ghouls and their human collaborators. Led by a mysterious leader, this new threat has the firepower to cripple the enemy, but their cure might be worse than the disease.

Caught between two destructive forces, Lara, Keo, and their friends will have to make a choice—fall in line or forge their own path—before the decision is made for them.

A year after The Purge, any chance of victory will rest on the tips of the Spears, and those fearless enough to wield them…

The Spears of Laconia Purge of Babylon Book 7 eBook Sam Sisavath

Not the best one of the series. I write this 94% into to the book. The story lines are fine. Will is not making the appearance he should have. There is nothing really profound going on this late in the tale. That said, and what merited the 3 stars is the most relentless childish banter and\or old schtick between the characters of all the books so far. Ugh. Then the sub descriptions in parenthesis. Stop it. I found myself skipping through almost all dialogue and could easily follow the story. He's covering my back as I run through gunfire so he must really love me? Seriously? A hardened vet would still be in stark terror at that point. Like Bond movies, I really hope to see a far more serious edge next book. Really, this whole book does nothing for the story. What kind of name is Keo? It's the second most popular surname in Cambodia. There it is. No more.

The Spears of Laconia Purge of Babylon Book 7 eBook Sam Sisavath Reviews

I have absolutely looked forward to reading each of the books in the Purge of Babylon series, there was a point where I wanted Mr. Sisavath to just package it up and finish the story because I need to know what the hell is going to happen...I can’t take the suspense...but I’ve become so attached to the characters...I think I’ll miss them once it’s done lol. An interesting twist on the normal zombie, end of the world, apocolypse stories. Many strong female leads. Love, loyalty, deception, intrigue, so much.... A shockingly believable and somewhat disappointing realization that in the end of the world it’s the guy next door who may be your worst nightmare and the stranger who you never would have spoken to may save your life...humanity isn’t always humane!!
Am frustrated that this has now moved into a 7th book on a very good story however still little to address how this whole event happened and the background of it. We keep getting pulled in different direction, new people and still Will searching, Lara running the ship, the ghouls being mindless unless directed, the blue-eyes knowing a lot, Mabry hiding or not and people being used as cattle/ baby factories and agreeing to it even if they don't want to as the alternative is far worse.
This and the last book could have been put together and hopefully the next one can conclude this journey. They are now more novellas and not full books as they were at the start.
When this series is over, I am probably going to cry. No matter how it ends...because it'll be over. Kind of like getting exactly what you wanted for your birthday.....so then you have it and what else is there to be excited about? Sam Sisavath is my kinda writer. Not only does he do great characters and amazing, exciting stories, but they are so well-written and grammatically correct that they are a pleasure to read. Each of his characters, the good and the bad guys and gals each have distinctive voices. There are so many people in Sam's stories and the last book will tie them all together, because that's what Sam does. Write fast, please, and tell your fans that this series is going to be on tv or in the movies soon. Pretty please?
Unfortunately I have to agree with many of the other reviewers. There is a lot of nothing happening. I was really looking forward to this book. This series, the Breakers series and the Arisen series have all been outstanding. This series, though, took a wrong turn when Will became a ghoul. There has been virtually no advancement of the story since then. (As an aside, it has never been explained how Will can be a good-guy ghoul and fight against Mabry, but every other blue-eyed ghoul is a complete extension of Mabry. That is an annoying missing piece of information.) I get the concept that someone had to become a ghoul in order to understand how Mabry could be defeated, but choosing Will as the sacrificial ghoul was not a good choice. I get tired of Will's constant longing for Lara. It might be understandable, but I really didn't buy the book to read a lover's lament. Keo should have become the ghoul. God knows he wouldn't be pining over anyone. I too thought this was going to be the last book and we would have resolution. Nope. Now I'm not even sure we'll get it in the next book. I really wouldn't mind that if we could get back to the action that made this such a great series.

I would be remiss without mentioning the positive aspects of the book. The writing is excellent - something in short supply in most of these books. The characters are well-developed. I actually care what happens to them. The editing is excellent as well. This book suffers in comparison to the early books in the series. As a stand-alone it's probably a 4 star book. The problem is that the fans of the series are comparing it to the earlier books and it comes up a bit short.
For some reason, I thought this book would be the last book of the series so I was somewhat disappointed to find out that it wasn't. I thought the way book 6 ended that this book would tie up all of the loose ends, and we would learn the answers to how and why the purge started and who Mabry really is. I feel the same as other readers in that Sam Sisavath is stringing us along to sell his books because book 7 is more of the same with all of the characters fighting and escaping situations. Don't get me wrong. I have really enjoyed this series, but I do think it needs to come to an end. So please, Mr. Sisavath, I hope your next book will be it.
Oh come on already Sam! Same old stuff... fighting losing battles and somehow coming out on top everytime. The constant fighting and shooting and stabbing and hiding and running have just really run the course with me. I wanted some answers! Where did the ghouls come from??! What was the "answer" to it that Will (Frank) has that will end it all?! I'm done. You have made fools out of all of us who have continued to buy the books in this series. You should have stopped being so greedy and wrapped it up. I'm not buying the next one.
Not the best one of the series. I write this 94% into to the book. The story lines are fine. Will is not making the appearance he should have. There is nothing really profound going on this late in the tale.
